The panel yesterday recommended a funding application from the St Thomas’ Church Management Committee for a total of £2,500.
The Church is in the process of taking on, renovating and converting the old Wednesfield Library building as a church and community centre and were seeking funding for the provision of new toilets, including disabled-access, to replace the current single and inaccessible toilet.
The centre will be used for church activities, including those to be provided for the church for the wider community (initial plans include job club, youth group, sessions for senior citizens and parent and toddler group), local exhibitions and affordable lettings for community groups and private use.
The panel felt that the bid met all 3 of our priorities and look forward to seeing this valuable community asset being brought back into use. We may even hold our panel meetings there in the future!
